Topcoat rules
On fire paint, the topcoat is a certified part of the system: a wrong or excessive coat downgrades the fire class. Product-by-product rules below.
Topcoat C — with Wood-C only
Critical:
System consumption: 250 g/m² Wood-C + max 100 g/m² Topcoat C (manufacturer-stated ETA-24/0441). Wood-C tints to the whites and colours in the Topcoat C datasheet.
Topcoat W — multi-system topcoat
- Over: Wood-S / Upgrade / 2FR / 4FR / Steel 1001 / 1002 — for wipeable surfaces and coloured finishes.
- Consumption: 100 g/m² (5 L ≈ 40 m²); max 100 g/m² for B-s1,d0 (100–150 on steel).
- Colour: all colours from white and clear bases; ask technical support for the right base. Wood-S tints to pastels.
Humidity and maintenance
- Topcoat C over Wood-C is mandatory in humid conditions (75%+ RH).
- Novatherm 4FR needs an approved topcoat above 75% humidity or for washable surfaces.
- W310: 5–10 year exterior interval, W311/W313: 7–10 years; recoat with the same product.
